Money Smart Week

Thomas Financial Group, in partnership with the Federal Reserve, organized 17 events during the 2013 Money Smart Week.   Our cooperation was a total success.  We had 11 City of Detroit Library Branches participate in the “Money Smart Kids Read” and our president, Daniel Thomas read to the kids at the Main Branch of the Detroit Library.  Also, Governor Rick Snyder was the guest reader at the Campbell Branch.

We organized 2 tours of the Federal Reserve for University Prep and the Detroit School of Arts. 80 students had lunch, attended a short presentation on what the reserve does and its importance, observed the rigorous discipline of the Federal Reserve employees in charge of counting and assessing the quality of the money supply.

The Hazel Park Library used The Game of Life to teach children money skills.  Our adult programs were created in collaboration with Michigan State University Extension and were focused on Budgeting and Money Personality.  The adult Programs were held at the Hazel Park Library and Ferndale Library.
